Some of my Static Meshes seem too dark almost black when I rebuild lighting. I go into their DISPLAY -> STATIC LIGHTING and set it to false. This seems to brighten the Static Mesh and it seems to blend with the world more properly. I read here thet this option has something to do with RAYTRACING.
